Accident – death – Obituary News : At least nine shots were fired during a tragic incident in Boca Raton on August 7th, resulting in the death of a young man. The suspect, Dylan Dantas, claims that he acted in self-defense, but police have disputed this claim.

According to a police report obtained by BocaNewsNow.com, Dantas allegedly lured his friend to his home on Bianchini Circle before shooting and killing him. The report provides a detailed account of the events leading up to the shooting and sheds light on the alleged thinking of the teenage suspect.

Dantas initially called the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office at around 11:55 AM to report that he had killed someone in his backyard, believing that the person was breaking into his home and was his friend. When deputies arrived at the scene just a few minutes later, they found Dantas in the front yard of his residence. He made statements about acting in self-defense and was subsequently detained.

Upon further investigation, officers discovered the lifeless body of a black male on the back patio of the residence, within the screen enclosure for the pool. The victim had suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene.

No weapons were found on or around the victim, but a Taurus G2C 9MM black semi-automatic firearm was discovered on the rear patio of the residence. The firearm had been fired until it ran out of bullets, with a total of nine fired casings found on the pool deck and in the pool. The Palm Beach County Medical Examiner’s Office later determined that the cause of death was homicide due to the multiple gunshot wounds.

Surveillance cameras on the exterior of the residence captured the events leading up to the shooting. The footage shows Dantas on the phone, walking into the pool enclosure from the rear sliding door. He can be heard saying, “Come to the backyard. Where you at?” Dantas is seen holding a firearm and fires multiple shots towards the corner of the patio.

In a 911 call made by Dantas, he claimed that the victim had threatened to kill him and had made his way into the backyard by climbing over the gate and breaking the screen. Dantas insisted that he acted in self-defense, stating that he shot the victim three times.

However, body-worn camera footage from responding deputies revealed conflicting statements from Dantas. He mentioned that the victim wanted to beat him up, had pictures of guns on social media, and that there had been a disagreement between them the previous weekend. Dantas asked if his actions could be considered self-defense.

Further examination of Dantas’ cellular devices revealed multiple communications between him and the victim, as well as other individuals, on the day of the incident. These messages indicated escalating tensions and included phrases such as “waiting on u doe” and “Ima have to (popcorn emoji).” The extracted communications also showed incoming texts from the victim’s girlfriend urging Dantas to calm down and grow up.

Based on the evidence gathered, police concluded that Dantas’ claim of self-defense was inconsistent with the video footage and crime scene evidence. The victim was never seen in the area described by Dantas and was not visible on the patio chair-facing camera. After the first four shots, Dantas advanced to a different area between the pool and the patio chair.

The investigation into this tragic incident is ongoing, and Dantas remains in custody at the Palm Beach County Jail. As more details emerge, authorities hope to determine the true nature of the events leading up to the fatal shooting..
