Accident – Death – Obituary News : New Developments in Murder Investigation of Odhran Kelly in Lurgan

Police have ruled out any connection to an organized crime gang in the murder of 23-year-old nursing assistant Odhran Kelly. The investigation into his death began on Sunday after his body was discovered in the Edward Street area. Mr. Kelly’s body was found next to a burning car in Maple Court during the early hours of Sunday.

In a touching tribute left at the scene, his mother and brother, Paul, expressed their devastation at his untimely loss. They said, “My beautiful boy… my heart is broken in a million pieces. Love you always.”

Two women, aged 36 and 43, along with a 31-year-old man, were arrested on suspicion of murder and are currently in custody. The police have clarified that they do not believe there is any connection to organized crime in relation to this killing.

A vigil has been organized for Mr. Kelly, who hailed from the Lurgan area. It is scheduled to take place on Wednesday evening at Edward Street, where numerous floral tributes have been left in recent days.

PSNI Detective Chief Inspector Tony Kelly, leading the investigation, stated, “A post-mortem examination has been conducted, and the deceased has been formally identified as Odhran Kelly. My thoughts are first and foremost with Mr. Kelly’s family, who are left trying to come to terms with this terrible loss.”

He further added, “While our investigation is still in its early stages, I do not believe there is any organized crime involvement. We do know that, tragically, Odhran’s body was discovered next to a burning car in the Maple Court area during the early hours of Sunday morning.”

“I am keen to speak with three individuals who were captured on CCTV footage, walking not far from the scene of the crime. I believe they may possess crucial information that could assist our investigation, and I urge them to come forward as soon as possible.”

He concluded by appealing to anyone who may have witnessed any suspicious activity in the Edward Street or Francis Street areas of Lurgan between 2 am and 5 am on Sunday to contact the police on 101.
