Arrest Made in Murder of Haddon Township Woman, Carlos Acevedo Charged with Disturbing Human Remains

Accident – Death – Obituary News : A man from Camden City has been apprehended and charged with murder in connection with the death of a woman from Haddon Township, as announced by Camden County Prosecutor Grace C. MacAulay and Camden County Police Chief Gabriel Rodriguez.

Carlos Acevedo, a 53-year-old residing in Camden City, was arrested on November 28, 2023, by detectives from the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office and the Camden County Police. Initially, he was charged with second-degree Disturbing Human Remains. However, further investigation led to the subsequent charge of first-degree murder on December 5, 2023, in relation to the untimely demise of 26-year-old Cathleen McGrath, a resident of Haddon Township.

Acevedo has been confined to the Camden County Correctional Facility pending further legal proceedings. It was on November 15, 2023, at approximately 1:58 p.m., when members of the Camden County Police Department received a distress call reporting the discovery of a lifeless body in the vicinity of 8th Street and Atlantic Avenue in Camden City. Upon arriving at the scene, officers were met by witnesses who had stumbled upon the deceased woman. Subsequent investigations established the identity of the deceased as Cathleen McGrath.
