23-year-old Nursing Assistant Odhran Kelly Identified as Victim in Lurgan Murder Investigation

Accident – Death – Obituary News : Detectives in Lurgan have officially identified the victim of a murder investigation as 23-year-old nursing assistant Odhran Kelly. The police launched the investigation on Sunday after a body was discovered in the Edward Street area. Mr. Kelly’s body was found next to a burning car in Maple Court during the early hours of Sunday morning. Currently, two women aged 36 and 43, along with a 31-year-old man, who were arrested on suspicion of murder, remain in custody.

Authorities have stated that they do not believe there is any connection between the killing and organized crime. In the wake of this tragic incident, a vigil will be held for Mr. Kelly, who was from the Lurgan area, on Wednesday evening. Detective Chief Inspector Tony Kelly of the PSNI expressed his condolences to Mr. Kelly’s family, stating, “My thoughts are first and foremost with Mr. Kelly’s family, who are left trying to come to terms with this terrible loss.” He also added that, although the investigation is still in its early stages, there is no indication of any involvement of organized crime in the murder.

A post-mortem examination has been conducted on Mr. Kelly’s body to confirm his identity. Detective Chief Inspector Kelly emphasized the need to gather more information related to the case. He said, “We do know that, tragically, Odhran’s body was found beside a burning car in the Maple Court area in the early hours of Sunday morning. I’m keen to speak with three people, who are captured on CCTV, walking not far from this car. I believe they may have information that could assist our investigation and would ask them to get in touch as soon as possible.”

Detective Chief Inspector Kelly requested assistance from the public, urging anyone who was in the Edward Street or Francis Street areas of Lurgan between 2am and 5am on Sunday and noticed any suspicious activity to contact the police on 101.
