Marine Veteran killed in Tragic Accident in Fox Lake
The Lake County Coroner’s Office has identified the victim of a fatal pedestrian accident in Fox Lake as 28-year-old Troy Dowsett, a former U.S. Marine Corps veteran from Portsmouth, Virginia.

An autopsy conducted on Monday revealed that Dowsett died as a result of blunt force injuries sustained in the crash, according to Lake County Coroner Jennifer Banek.
The incident occurred on Sunday morning when emergency services, including the Fox Lake Fire Protection District and Fox Lake Police Department, were called to the scene of a vehicle collision at the intersection of Route 59 and Grand Avenue in Fox Lake.
Fox Lake Police Chief Dawn DeServi stated that upon arrival, officers discovered a collision involving a pedestrian and a Ford F-150 pickup truck.
The victim, later identified as Troy Dowsett, was found lying in the road after being struck by the southbound vehicle on Route 59 at Grand Avenue.

Dowsett sustained critical injuries and was immediately transported to a local hospital, where he was sadly pronounced deceased. No other injuries were reported in connection with the accident.
The driver of the Ford F-150 remained at the scene and has fully cooperated with the ongoing investigation, according to Chief DeServi. At this time, no citations have been issued, and no charges have been filed as the incident remains under investigation.
To aid in the investigation, the Lake County Major Crash Assistance Team (MCAT) was dispatched to the scene for accident reconstruction purposes. As a result, the intersection of Route 59 and Grand Avenue was closed for several hours.

The accident in Fox Lake remains under investigation by MCAT and the Fox Lake Police Department as they work to determine the circumstances surrounding the tragic incident.
