Prominent Community Leader Sukhdev Singh Gogamedi Shot Dead at His Jaipur Residence, Leading to Protests in Rajasthan

According to Jaipur police commissioner Biju George Joseph, three assailants entered Gogamedi’s house, where one of them, identified as Naveen Singh Shekhawat, a local shopkeeper, opened fire at the prominent community leader. However, Gogamedi’s security guards swiftly responded, shooting and killing Shekhawat in the process. Unfortunately, Gogamedi sustained fatal injuries during the attack, while one of his security guards, Ajit Singh, also suffered a gunshot wound.

A video clip capturing the incident has gone viral, showing two men abruptly firing at Gogamedi. As he collapses to the ground, the assailants fire one final shot into his back before fleeing. Kapurisar accused Gogamedi of collaborating “with our enemies to strengthen their organizations.” However, the police have yet to comment on Kapurisar’s claim.

In response to the protests erupting across the state, Rajasthan’s director general of police, Umesh Mishra, has taken action by setting up check posts to track down the two unidentified assailants. Mishra has ordered his officers to expedite the investigation and ensure the swift arrest of the culprits. Additionally, heightened security measures have been implemented in Jaipur, neighboring districts, and at Gogamedi’s residence.

Providing further details of the incident, Jaipur police commissioner Biju George Joseph revealed that the three assailants arrived at Gogamedi’s house in a white car around 1 pm. They gained entry by informing the security guards of their intention to meet Gogamedi. After a brief conversation with Gogamedi, the assailants opened fire, inflicting fatal injuries upon him.

Following the shooting, the two remaining assailants fled the scene in search of a getaway vehicle. Spotting a scooterist, they shot him and stole his vehicle in their bid to escape. Gogamedi, the injured security guard, and the scooterist were rushed to Metro Mass Hospital for treatment. Tragically, Gogamedi passed away shortly after receiving medical attention, while the two injured individuals were transferred to the intensive care unit (ICU), with one potentially being moved to Sawai Man Singh hospital due to their critical condition.

Despite the devastating loss, Gogamedi’s family has refused to allow his body to be sent for autopsy until the police apprehend the two remaining culprits. Gogamedi’s uncle hinted at a larger conspiracy, stating that his nephew had received threatening calls from various political groups. The family had previously requested adequate security from the police, which was denied. They firmly believe that Gogamedi was well aware of the threats to his life.
