Tragic Pedestrian Accident Claims Life of Virginia Resident in Fox Lake

FOX LAKE — A tragic incident unfolded in Fox Lake on December 3, resulting in the loss of a pedestrian’s life. The victim has been identified as Troy Dowsett, a 28-year-old resident of Portsmouth, Virginia, according to authorities.

The Fox Lake Police Department and the Fox Lake Fire Protection District swiftly responded to a distress call reporting a vehicle crash with injuries at the intersection of Route 59 and Grand Avenue around 1:53 a.m., as stated in an official news release.

Upon arrival, emergency personnel discovered that a pickup truck had struck a pedestrian who was walking along the roadway. The impact of the collision caused critical injuries to the pedestrian, who was promptly rushed to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville.

Despite the efforts of medical professionals, tragically, the pedestrian succumbed to their injuries and was pronounced dead in the emergency room at Advocate Condell Medical Center.

Due to the severity of the incident, the Major Crash Assistance Team of Lake County was called upon to provide their expertise in the comprehensive crash investigation. Additionally, the Lake County Coroner’s Office was notified and promptly arrived at the hospital to gather necessary information for their investigation.

On December 4, an autopsy was conducted at the Lake County Coroner’s Office to determine the cause of death. The results of the autopsy revealed that Troy Dowsett’s tragic passing was a direct result of the blunt force injuries sustained during the collision.

The Fox Lake Police Department, in conjunction with the Major Crash Assistance Team, continues to diligently investigate the circumstances surrounding the fatal crash. Their joint efforts aim to uncover every detail and bring clarity to this unfortunate incident.
