SPRINGFIELD, MA (WGGB/WSHM) – A man is dead after a shooting Monday night in Springfield.
Springfield Police spokesperson Ryan Walsh said that officers were called to the 0-100 block of Abemarle Street around 6 p.m. Monday for a ShotSpotter activation.
When police arrived, they found an adult male gunshot victim, who was taken to Baystate Medical Center where he died.
Anyone with information on the incident is asked to call the Springfield Police detective bureau at (413) 787-6355 or ‘Text-A-Tip’ to CRIMES (274637) and in the message, type SOLVE and your tip.

According to Ryan Walsh, spokesperson for the Springfield Police, officers received a ShotSpotter activation call around 6 p.m. on Monday, prompting them to rush to the 0-100 block of Abemarle Street. Upon arrival, they discovered an adult male suffering from gunshot wounds. The victim was immediately transported to Baystate Medical Center, but unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries.
The Springfield Police detective bureau is urging anyone with information related to the incident to come forward and assist with the investigation. They can contact the bureau at (413) 787-6355 or choose to provide anonymous tips by texting ‘SOLVE’ and the relevant information to CRIMES (274637).
The Springfield Police homicide unit, in collaboration with the Hampden District Attorney’s murder unit, is currently leading the investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
