Two Perry Township Residents killed in Tragic Car Accident on Lincoln Way East

Tragedy struck Perry Township on Thursday morning as a deadly car accident claimed the lives of two township residents. Margaret M. Taylor, aged 71, and her passenger Robert A. Bodiford, aged 68, lost their lives in the incident, according to the accident report filed by the Perry Township police department.

The local authorities are currently investigating the collision to determine the exact cause and circumstances surrounding the accident.

The Accident Details

Based on the police report, the accident occurred when Taylor, driving her white 2005 Toyota Solara, was heading northbound on Locke Avenue SW. Tragically, as she crossed Lincoln Way, her vehicle was struck by a black Chevrolet flatbed truck, pulling another vehicle, which was traveling westbound. The collision took place when the truck collided with the front passenger door of Taylor’s Solara. Subsequently, her vehicle collided with a black Hyundai Sonata, which was also traveling westbound and making a right turn from Lincoln Way.

Authorities have identified Bruce A. Bixler, a 48-year-old Massillon resident, as another individual involved in the crash. Bixler suffered minor injuries and was promptly transported to Aultman Hospital in Canton for treatment.

Fortunately, the driver of the Sonata, Kelly M. Laign, a 60-year-old Perry Township resident, emerged from the accident unharmed. The collision was reported at 10:53 in the morning.

Beyond the devastating loss of two lives, the accident also caused damage to four parked vehicles located on the property of the Diehl Automotive Group. The community is grappling with the shock and grief caused by this tragic incident.
