MEMPHIS, Tenn. – A man has been apprehended for his alleged involvement in a deadly hit-and-run collision that occurred in southeast Memphis. The incident took place on October 26, when Memphis Police responded to a crash on Kirby Parkway near I-385. At the scene, they discovered a woman, identified as Sarah Hamer, critically injured. Hamer, 53, was rushed to Regional One Hospital but unfortunately succumbed to her injuries.

According to reports, the suspect, later identified as DeAndrea Clark, exited a ramp and proceeded to run a red light. Witnesses claim that Clark was driving at an excessive speed of 85 MPH in a 40 MPH zone and even drove through grass before colliding with Hamer’s vehicle. Shockingly, Clark fled the scene on foot after the collision.

During their investigation, Memphis Police found a phone inside the suspect’s vehicle. Fingerprints lifted from the phone matched those of DeAndrea Clark, providing crucial evidence in the case. Moreover, authorities discovered that Clark’s driver’s license had been suspended since 2011. Additionally, his vehicle did not have any proof of insurance, a violation of the law.

He is scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday.
