The Lake Hallie police reported that on December 4, 2023, at approximately 12:00 a.m., an officer was conducting routine patrol duties when they noticed a pickup truck near East Melby Street/109th. Upon further investigation, the officer discovered that the registered owner of the vehicle had an outstanding arrest warrant.

Promptly responding to this revelation, the officer decided to halt the truck at the intersection of 18th Avenue and South Prairie View Road. During the inspection, the officer observed what appeared to be a considerable number of vehicle brake rotors, estimated to be between 10 to 20, as well as a catalytic converter in the truck’s cargo area. The driver was identified as 57-year-old Jerry Van Cannon, hailing from Janesville. Suspicions arose regarding Van Cannon’s potential impairment due to controlled substances. As a result of these findings, the Lake Hallie police arrested Erickson, Hoover, and Brown on suspicion of possessing drug paraphernalia. Van Cannon, on the other hand, faced charges of OWI-4th and possession of methamphetamine.
