BERHAMPUR: A shocking incident occurred in Chamunda village within Jagannathprasad police limits in Ganjam district on Sunday night, as a 55-year-old man was reportedly killed by his wife following an argument over money for liquor. The deceased has been identified as Kapila Behera, a resident of Barisahi in Chamunda. The accused woman, aged 48, has not yet been named by the police.

According to sources, the couple had recently returned to the village after working in a tea garden in another state. Their relationship had been marred by frequent fights, mainly due to Kapila’s drinking habit. The situation escalated on Sunday night when an intense argument broke out between the couple over Kapila’s request for money to buy liquor.

Allegedly, when Kapila’s wife refused to provide the money, he began verbally abusing her. This verbal assault quickly turned violent when the enraged woman attacked her husband with a sharp weapon, causing him critical injuries.

Upon receiving information about the incident, the police promptly arrived at the couple’s residence on Monday. Tragically, they discovered Kapila lying in a pool of blood. Immediate medical attention was sought, but doctors declared him brought dead upon arrival at the hospital. The police have registered a case in this matter and have sent Kapila’s body for postmortem examination. Meanwhile, the accused woman has been detained and is currently being interrogated. Authorities are actively conducting further investigations into the incident.
