Ardmore Police Respond to Murder Scene, Suspect Apprehended

ARDMORE, Okla. (KXII) – Last Tuesday, the Ardmore Police were called to the 100 block of H Street Northwest, where they made a gruesome discovery. The lifeless body of a woman, later identified as 30-year-old Lindrell Petties, was found with multiple gunshot wounds, according to court documents released by Oklahoma authorities.

The incident sparked an intense investigation, with officers utilizing surveillance footage from nearby residences and businesses to track the movements of the suspect.

The surveillance footage revealed that the suspect forcefully entered the victim’s home by kicking down the back door. Inside the residence, the suspect fired six shots before fleeing the scene. The footage provided crucial evidence that helped law enforcement identify and apprehend the perpetrator.

Further analysis of the surveillance footage led investigators to a nearby car wash, where they discovered the vehicle used by the suspect. The footage from the car wash showed the driver of the vehicle, identified as 50-year-old Sherl Batise, answering a phone call from a payphone just moments before picking up the second assailant. The footage showed Batise dropping off the second assailant at a different location north of the crime scene.

Two days after the murder, authorities arrested Sherl Batise, connecting him to the crime through the traced vehicle. Although the time stamps on the surveillance footage indicated that Batise did not enter the victim’s home, he made several admissions of his involvement in the homicide following his arrest.

Suspect Appears in Court, Faces First Degree Murder Charge

On Monday, Sherl Batise had his initial court hearing at the Carter County Courthouse. He was formally charged with first-degree murder, and the court set his bond at 1 million dollars.

Despite the arrest of Batise, Ardmore Police are still actively searching for the second suspect involved in the murder. They are urging anyone with information to come forward and assist in their ongoing investigation.
