HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — An 18-year-old suspect, identified as Nathan Britton, has been arrested by West University Place police after allegedly attacking and attempting to rob two elderly women in separate incidents mere minutes apart in West University Place, a city within Houston, Texas.

The first incident occurred around 8:30 a.m. on Sunday in the 2700 block of Barbara Lane. An elderly woman reported seeing a man walking in her driveway and confronted him, asking about his intentions. Without warning, the suspect forced his way into the woman’s home, overpowering her. A minor altercation ensued before the suspect fled the scene.

Surveillance footage from a neighbor captured the suspect running and eventually walking away towards Wakeforest Avenue. It was during this time that he targeted his second victim.

The second victim, who has chosen to remain anonymous, revealed the harrowing details of her encounter. While she was out walking in her relatively safe neighborhood during broad daylight, she noticed the suspect following her for several blocks. Suddenly, he approached her from behind, forcefully grabbing and striking her against a parked car. The assailant proceeded to search her jacket pockets before releasing her.

Records indicate that Britton is facing charges of burglary of habitation, aggravated robbery, and unlawful carry of a weapon. His bond has been set at a total of $100,000. Should he manage to post bail, he will be placed under 24-hour house arrest, with exceptions made for work or school-related activities.
