Accident – Death – Obituary News : Friends Involved in Winnipeg Mass Shooting Regularly Socialized, Investigation Reveals

A shocking revelation has emerged in the investigation of last weekend’s tragic mass shooting in Winnipeg’s West Broadway neighborhood. CityNews has learned that the alleged shooter and the four victims were not only acquaintances but friends who frequently socialized together. The incident, which took place on November 26th, claimed the lives of four individuals.

The suspect, Jamie Randy Felix, a 32-year-old military corporal with the Royal Winnipeg Rifles, was apprehended by authorities five days after the shooting. The motive behind the attack remains unclear, as the relationship between Felix and the victims did not appear to be marred by animosity or gang-related conflicts. Instead, they were known to gather regularly at the Sherbrook Inn on Westminster Avenue.

Brendon Cornejo, a long-time employee of the Sherbrook Inn, confirmed the close association between the victims and the alleged shooter. Cornejo revealed that their bond centered largely around drug-related activities. He expressed his belief that the group had made their own choices, stating, “It would be like if I smacked my head against the wall, it’s my choice, and you have to live with the consequence.”

Cornejo emphasized that the shooting was not an act of revenge, contrary to speculation. The details surrounding this tragic event continue to raise numerous questions, making it one of the most devastating mass shootings in the city’s history.

Victims Identified and Suspect Charged

The four victims have been identified as Crystal Beardy, aged 34, her sister Stephanie Beardy, aged 33, Melelek Lesikel, aged 29, and Dylan Lavallee, aged 41. Tragically, a fifth person, a 55-year-old man, remains in “very critical” condition in the hospital at present, according to the police.

Meanwhile, Jamie Randy Felix now faces four counts of second-degree murder and one count of attempted murder, as reported by CityNews. The alleged shooter’s life has had previous connections to violent incidents, as revealed by provincial court records. Felix had been under supervised probation for two years following an assault in August 2021.

Moreover, media reports from 2012 indicate that Felix’s identical twin brother, Johnathen James Felix, met a similar fate in a drug-related act of violence within the same West Broadway neighborhood.

Condolences and Calls for Action

The Assembly of Manitoba Chiefs (AMC) extended their condolences to the grieving families, acknowledging the immeasurable pain caused by this tragic event. In a news release, Grand Chief Cathy Merrick emphasized the need to address the root causes of violence and take proactive measures. The AMC aims to prioritize mental health support and addiction services, striving to create a safer and more compassionate environment for all.

The recent tragedy has brought to light the urgent need to collaborate with various partners and nations to develop programs that prioritize mental health and effectively intervene before violence unfolds within communities. The AMC remains dedicated to fostering a safer environment and preventing further incidents of this nature.

As the investigation into the Winnipeg mass shooting continues, the community mourns the loss of four lives and hopes for a future free from such senseless acts of violence.
