Deadly Shooting at Bloomington House Party Leaves One Dead, One Injured

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (WISH) — In the early hours of Sunday morning, a tragic shooting incident unfolded at a house party in Bloomington, resulting in the death of a 23-year-old man and the hospitalization of another individual, according to local authorities.

The identity of the deceased victim has not yet been released.

Responding to a report of a weapons-related call, officers from the Bloomington Police Department were dispatched to a residence in the 500 block of S. Park Avenue at approximately 2 a.m. The incident occurred in a residential area just south of Indiana University.

Upon arrival, law enforcement discovered numerous partygoers departing from a large house party. Witnesses at the scene informed the police that a shooting had taken place.

Thoroughly investigating the area, authorities found the lifeless body of the 23-year-old victim, who had suffered a gunshot wound to the chest. Despite their attempts to resuscitate him, the man was tragically pronounced dead at the scene.

Additionally, officers located a 19-year-old male who had also been shot. This individual was swiftly transported to a local hospital, where he is currently being treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

According to accounts provided by party attendees, a Caucasian male of large build, sporting a pink shirt, instigated the shooting by indiscriminately firing into the crowd. This individual has since been identified as 21-year-old Isaiah Ramos, a resident of Linton, Indiana.

Based on witness testimonies, detectives pieced together the events leading up to the shooting. It was revealed that Ramos and two accompanying individuals were denied entry to the party due to one of them visibly carrying a handgun in their waistband. In response, the trio became confrontational, sparking a physical altercation that subsequently spilled into a nearby alley.

During this altercation, witnesses reported that Ramos began discharging his weapon into the crowd, endangering the lives of innocent partygoers.

Following the incident, investigators initiated a search for Ramos, ultimately resulting in an Indiana State Police trooper conducting a routine traffic stop on a vehicle matching the suspect’s description. During the stop, the trooper discovered a firearm inside the car and subsequently detained all three occupants.

After thorough questioning, Isaiah Ramos was taken into custody and subsequently booked into the Monroe County jail. He currently faces preliminary charges of murder and criminal recklessness. As of now, no court date has been set.
