According to authorities, the pursuit began on Louetta Road when law enforcement officers noticed a stolen vehicle. The suspect then recklessly drove the wrong way onto the Hardy Toll Road, with the chase continuing until it reached the Airtex area.

Eyewitness News learned that the driver involved in the chase had a flat tire but still refused to stop. The pursuit eventually led to a devastating crash near Richey at approximately 3 p.m. Chief Deputy Donald Steward stated that deputies chose to continue the chase in order to warn other drivers on the road.

In light of the incident, authorities are now investigating whether the chase conducted by Pct. 4 deputies violated any department policies. It remains unclear whether the deputy constable involved in the pursuit is currently on active duty.

ABC13 requested a copy of Pct. 4’s chase policy, but the department declined to release it to the public.
