According to sources, the Bidhannagar City Police tracked down the offender, who was operating the fake profile, in Rajasthan. A team of police officers was dispatched to Rajasthan, where they successfully arrested Rashim Khan. He was then brought back to Kolkata on transit remand. During the interrogation, Khan confessed to opening the fake profile of the state police DGP with the intention of defrauding people and earning money.

Khan further divulged that he had sent personal messages to several individuals, soliciting money through his fake profile. However, his attempts proved futile, as only a few individuals from Kerala and Karnataka responded positively to his messages. It is worth noting that Khan is a graduate in mathematics, which has raised suspicions among investigating officials that he may be part of a larger network involved in similar fraudulent activities.

The incident sheds light on the increasing prevalence of online impersonation and fraudulent activities on social media platforms. The ease of creating fake profiles and the anonymity provided by these platforms have given rise to a multitude of scams and deceits targeting innocent individuals.
