Tragedy Strikes in Goa as Speeding Car Driven by Russian National Claims Three Lives

In a heart-wrenching incident that unfolded in the early hours of Saturday, three innocent Indian tourists tragically lost their lives after being struck by a speeding car driven by a 27-year-old Russian national near the renowned ’23 Restaurant’ in Arpora, Goa. The accused driver, identified as Anton Bychkov, also sustained severe injuries and is currently receiving medical treatment at the esteemed Goa Medical College and Hospital in Bambolim.

The victims, who have been identified as Dilipkumar Bang and Manojkumar Soni from Hyderabad, Telangana, and Mahesh Sharma from Nashik, Maharashtra, met their untimely demise in this devastating accident that occurred at approximately 3:30 am. As per the Anjuna police, the horrifying incident unfolded when five Indian tourists were engaged in a conversation by the roadside in Arpora, with their XUV 700 car parked on the side of the road, facing Calangute. Tragically, as three of them were attempting to board the vehicle, Bychkov, recklessly driving a Polo car at an exorbitant speed from Anjuna, collided with all three tourists, dragging them mercilessly for a distance of at least 50 meters.

Following the collision, Bychkov lost control of his vehicle, veering off the road and plunging headfirst into a Nullah on the left side. The three tourists and the Russian driver were immediately rushed to the North Goa District Hospital in Mapusa. Regrettably, upon their arrival, the three Indian tourists were pronounced dead, succumbing to the fatal injuries inflicted by the tragic accident. Bychkov, battling with serious injuries, was subsequently transferred to the prestigious Goa Medical College to receive further medical attention and care.

In light of this horrific incident, the police have diligently recorded statements from the survivors, including the driver and a friend of the deceased tourists. Anjuna Police have taken swift action, registering a case against the owner of the Polo car, who is believed to have rented the vehicle to Bychkov. Preliminary investigations indicate that Bychkov displayed a flagrant disregard for road safety, driving recklessly and at an alarmingly high speed, ultimately resulting in this heart-wrenching tragedy.
