Gary Police Investigate Three Separate Shootings

Authorities in Gary, Indiana are currently investigating three separate shooting incidents that occurred last week. The incidents have left multiple victims injured and have prompted an urgent call for information from the public.

First Incident

The first incident took place in the early hours of a morning in the 300 block of Durbin Street. Gary Police received a distress call at approximately 3:07 a.m. and promptly responded to the scene. Upon arrival, officers discovered two male victims, aged 52 and 48, who had sustained gunshot wounds.

According to a statement released by Cmdr. Sam Roberts, the shooting was preceded by a physical altercation between the 48-year-old male and a woman inside a residence. The altercation spilled outside, where the 52-year-old man intervened. At that moment, an unidentified third individual approached the group and opened fire, injuring both men.

Second Incident

Later that day, at approximately 9:06 p.m., Gary Police were called to the scene of another shooting. This incident occurred in the 600 block of 21st Avenue and involved a 23-year-old man and a 21-year-old woman, both residents of Gary.

According to reports, the victims were leaving a gas station when they heard gunshots and immediately began running. As they fled, they realized they had been struck by bullets. Emergency services were summoned, and both victims were transported to Methodist Northlake for medical treatment.

Third Incident

The final incident occurred at approximately 11:30 p.m. on the same day, prompting police response to Methodist Hospitals Northlake. An 18-year-old man from Michigan City reported being a victim of a shooting.

According to the victim, he had arranged a meeting through a “phone app” with an individual he knew to purchase marijuana. However, when the suspect demanded money during the transaction in the 4000 block of Adams Street, the victim fled. Unfortunately, he was struck in the arm by gunfire while attempting to escape. A friend then drove him to the hospital for treatment.
