In a horrifying incident that unfolded in Queens early Sunday morning, a man was killed by officers after a brutal knife attack that claimed the lives of four people and left three others injured, including two police officers. The New York Police Department Chief, Jeffrey Maddrey, disclosed during a news conference that the authorities received a distressing 911 call shortly after 5 a.m. from a young woman, who reported that her cousin was killing her family members.

Promptly responding to the call, two officers rushed to the scene in the Far Rockaway neighborhood on E 22nd Street. As they arrived at the address, they noticed a man in the driveway, carrying luggage and seemingly preparing to leave. Chief Maddrey stated that the officers approached the man and questioned him about the incident. Shockingly, the man drew a knife and viciously stabbed one officer in the neck and the other in the head before one of them managed to retrieve their firearm and shoot the attacker in self-defense.

Both officers, with more than a decade of experience in the police force, were immediately transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. Fortunately, Chief Maddrey reassured the public that they are expected to recover from their injuries.

While investigating the scene, law enforcement discovered the lifeless body of an 11-year-old girl outside the residence, succumbing to apparent stab wounds. Additionally, a fire had been intentionally ignited within the home, obstructing officers from entering until the arrival of the fire department to extinguish the flames. Once inside, authorities uncovered more victims. A 12-year-old boy, a man in his 30s, and a 44-year-old woman were all found brutally stabbed to death in bedrooms towards the back of the house. Furthermore, a 61-year-old woman, also suffering from stab wounds, was immediately rushed to a local hospital in critical condition.

Although the exact circumstances leading to this devastating knife attack remain unclear, the police believe that both the suspect and the victims were all related as family members. The assailant has been identified as 38-year-old Courtney Gordon, who tragically lost his life at a local hospital after being shot by the officers. Police records indicate that Gordon had a previous arrest on charges of strangulation in a domestic incident, but that particular incident occurred in the Bronx.

Authorities have determined that a kitchen steak knife was used by the suspect in this heinous attack. As the investigation continues, the police are diligently working to uncover all the facts surrounding this appalling crime.
