Kagiso Tshwaane: Manhunt underway in connection with mob justice incident resulting in death

The Hlogotlou police have successfully apprehended a suspect involved in a tragic case of mob justice that occurred last week in Vleeischboom. The incident, which resulted in the death of the victim, has left the community in shock.

According to authorities, enraged community members went to the residence of the murder victim on Thursday, 30 November at approximately 10 pm. The incident unfolded after allegations arose that a 16-year-old boy had raped a three-year-old girl. It was claimed that on the same day, the suspect lured the child to his residence while she was playing with other children on the streets, where he committed the heinous act. A rape case was subsequently initiated for further investigation,” stated Brigadier Hlulani Mashaba, the police spokesperson.

Rescued from mob: Vigilante justice averted

The police were alerted to the kidnapping of the alleged rape suspect and promptly intervened, managing to rescue him from the angry mob. However, he sustained severe injuries during the incident and was immediately transported to the local hospital for medical attention.

The following day, the suspect tragically succumbed to his injuries and was identified as Kagiso Tshwaane.

“The police have opened murder and kidnapping cases, and a manhunt is currently underway. We have already made one arrest, but we anticipate further arrests in the coming days,” Mashaba added.

The arrested suspect is scheduled to appear before the Nebo Regional Court, where he will face charges of murder and kidnapping.

Seven fatalities in Diepsloot

Meanwhile, Diepsloot has once again become the center of attention following two separate instances of mob violence that resulted in the brutal deaths of seven people.

The first incident occurred on Friday evening, while the second took place in the early hours of Saturday morning. Preliminary investigations suggest that all the victims were assaulted and set on fire by an angry mob,” said Lieutenant Colonel Mavela Masondo, a police spokesperson.

Mgcini Tshwaku, the City of Johannesburg’s public safety MMC, informed News24 that the Johannesburg Metro Police Department (JMPD) received a distress call regarding two bodies found on the streets of Diepsloot’s Extension 13 at approximately 11 pm on Friday.
