Investigation Underway into Fatal Shooting in Wichita; Suspect Luis Jackson Sought

SEDGWICK COUNTY — Authorities are currently conducting a thorough investigation into a tragic shooting incident that occurred in Wichita, Kansas. Law enforcement officials are seeking the public’s assistance in locating an individual identified as Luis Jackson, who is considered a suspect in this case. The local Crime Stoppers program has issued a report urging anyone with relevant information to come forward.

According to Officer Juan Rebolledo, the Wichita Police Department received an emergency call around 2 a.m. on September 10, reporting a shooting incident in the 4000 block of West Memory Lane. Responding promptly, police officers arrived at the scene to handle the situation.

Upon arrival, first responders discovered 19-year-old Zyles James, a resident of Wichita, in an unconscious and non-breathing state. James had sustained gunshot wounds to his upper and lower body, the severity of which proved fatal. In an effort to save his life, officers immediately initiated life-saving procedures until EMS personnel arrived. James was then transported to a nearby hospital, where he was tragically pronounced deceased.

During the initial response, authorities also identified another victim who had suffered a graze wound to the arm. This individual was promptly taken to a local hospital for medical attention and was subsequently released after receiving appropriate treatment.

The search for Luis Jackson, the prime suspect in this case, remains ongoing. The police department urges anyone who may come across Jackson or possess knowledge regarding his whereabouts to immediately contact 911 or reach out to Crime Stoppers at 316-267-2111. Public cooperation is crucial in assisting law enforcement authorities in their efforts to bring the suspect to justice.
