Accident – Death – Obituary News : Tragic Car Crash Claims Life of 20-Year-Old Man in Couva, Trinidad and Tobago
Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago: A devastating car accident in Couva on Thursday, November 30, 2023, has resulted in the untimely death of a 20-year-old man. The victim has been identified as Isaiah Alexander, a resident of June Street, Couva.

According to reports, the fatal incident occurred around 11:25 pm when Alexander’s 16-year-old brother was behind the wheel of a Nissan Wing road on Perseverance Road. While navigating the road, the young driver hit a speed bump, causing him to lose control of the vehicle. Tragically, the car crashed into a utility pole and two houses.
In the front passenger seat of the car was a 16-year-old individual who sustained serious injuries and tragically lost their life at the scene of the accident. Authorities were immediately notified, and both the police and emergency health services promptly arrived at the scene. Alexander was rushed to the Couva Hospital for medical treatment.
A District Medical Officer (DMO) also attended the scene of the accident. After examining the body of the 20-year-old man, the DMO officially pronounced him deceased and ordered his removal.
This tragic incident serves as a grim reminder of the dangers of road traffic accidents. Shockingly, this year alone, a total of 93 individuals have lost their lives as a result of such incidents. The authorities are urging the public to exercise caution while driving and to take immediate action in case of emergencies on the road.

It is worth mentioning that just a few days prior to this incident, another fatal accident occurred on Sunday, November 26, 2023. Samuel Wilkinson, a resident of Milford Road, Hampden, in Lowlands, Tobago, tragically lost his life while attempting to cross the Claude Noel Highway.
Law enforcement officials are diligently investigating both cases, emphasizing the importance of responsible driving and the need for heightened awareness on the roads. It is crucial for all citizens to refrain from allowing underage individuals to operate vehicles and to prioritize proper driving training for themselves and others.
In the event of witnessing an accident, it is imperative to promptly inform the authorities and nearby hospitals to ensure swift and efficient handling of the situation.
