Accident – Death – Obituary News : NASHUA, New Hampshire — In a harrowing incident on the Everett Turnpike in Nashua, a wrong-way driver, identified as Omer Landry, was arrested after crashing into a UPS truck. The state police, who responded to the scene, have charged Landry, a 45-year-old resident of Nashua, with driving while intoxicated, reckless conduct, and operating an unregistered and uninspected vehicle. Landry is slated to appear in the Hillsborough Superior Court in January to face these charges.

The incident occurred at approximately 11:20 p.m. on Thursday when the state police received a distress call from the driver of a UPS tractor-trailer. The driver reported that his truck had been struck head-on by a four-door sedan on the F.E. Everett Turnpike’s Exit 5 northbound onramp.

Landry was driving the wrong way on the highway when the collision occurred. Following the crash, Landry was transported by ambulance to a nearby hospital to receive treatment for minor injuries sustained in the accident. The driver of the UPS truck, identified as Fred Coffin from Waterford, Maine, managed to bring his vehicle to a controlled stop before being hit by Landry’s sedan.

Fortunately, no serious injuries were reported as a result of the collision. Prior to the incident, the state police had not received any calls alerting them to a vehicle traveling in the wrong direction on the highway.

In order to facilitate the cleanup process, the state police closed the onramp that runs parallel to the F.E. Everett Turnpike for approximately two hours. This closure allowed the authorities and cleanup crews to attend to the scene effectively.

The state police are urging anyone with information about the crash to come forward and contact Trooper Bryan Taylor at 603-223-4381 or via email at Bryan.L.Taylor@dos.nh.gov.
