Accident – Death – Obituary News : Las Vegas police are currently on the hunt for a gunman who shot five homeless individuals on Friday night, just hours after Los Angeles police issued a warning about a potential serial killer targeting the homeless population. The shooting took place at around 5:30 pm near a freeway overpass in the northeastern part of the city, resulting in the death of one victim, a man in his 50s. Four other men were injured, with one in critical condition. All of the victims were homeless.

Initially, there were reports that two people had been killed in the shooting, but the police later clarified that only one person had died. During a news conference, witnesses claimed to have seen a man wearing a hoodie leaving the scene in a dark-colored sedan. When asked if this incident could be connected to similar shootings targeting the unhoused population in California, Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department Lt. Jason Johannson stated that it appeared to be a different scenario. However, he did not rule out the possibility of a connection, stating that further investigation would be necessary.

Meanwhile, in Los Angeles, the police launched an appeal on Friday to help identify a suspect believed to be responsible for killing three homeless people within the past week. The LAPD stated that the investigation was still in its early stages but noted similarities in the three killings. LAPD Chief Michel Moore revealed that a single individual had approached each victim while they were sleeping and shot them. The suspect then fled in a vehicle without any altercation. The police urged the public to come forward with any information that could help identify the killer.

The three victims in Los Angeles have been identified as Jose Bolanos, 37, Mark Diggs, 62, and an unidentified 52-year-old man found in the Lincoln Heights area. Bolanos was discovered dead with a gunshot wound in an alley in South Los Angeles, while Diggs was shot and killed near downtown. Diggs had been pushing a shopping cart and had stopped to charge his phone before falling asleep when he was tragically murdered. The LAPD has set up a task force of investigators who are working tirelessly to capture the killer.

Mayor Karen Bass expressed her determination to bring the perpetrator to justice, stating, “We will find you, we will catch you, and you will be held accountable.” She also urged homeless individuals to seek shelter and avoid sleeping outside alone while the search for the suspect continues. Mayor Bass emphasized the gravity of the situation, describing the killer as someone who is preying on the unhoused population.

The homeless crisis in Los Angeles is a pressing issue, with a count earlier this year revealing over 46,000 homeless individuals in the city. As the LAPD intensifies its efforts to apprehend the killer, they have provided a description of the suspect as a man seen leaving the crime scenes in a dark-colored sedan.
