Accident – Death – Obituary News : The body of a 17-year-old girl from Indiana, who had been missing since June, was discovered buried in the yard of her neighbor on Tuesday. The neighbor, identified as 59-year-old Patrick A. Scott, later confessed to killing her. Scott, who owned a landscaping business, was charged with murder in the death of Valerie Tindall, a high school student who had been working for him over the summer.

According to a police report obtained by HuffPost, Tindall informed her family on June 7th that she was going to work, but she never returned home. Her remains were identified by a coroner on Thursday. Tindall, who had just finished her junior year in high school, had dreams of becoming a veterinarian. Her parents described her as sweet, smart, and funny, and she enjoyed creating TikTok videos with her sisters.

Scott was arrested at his residence, and during the interview with investigators, he admitted to strangling Tindall with his belt at his home. He claimed that she had tried to seduce him and threatened to blackmail him when he rejected her advances. Scott showed no remorse for his actions, stating that he was not bothered by having killed her.

Scott had initially been considered a person of interest shortly after Tindall’s disappearance. He had given inconsistent statements to investigators and Tindall’s family, continually changing his story. Eventually, he was arrested on a misdemeanor charge of lying to the police and hindering the investigation. Traffic camera footage, GPS data, and a text message from Tindall contradicted his statements, leading to his arrest.

In October, cadaver dogs detected the presence of human remains near Scott’s property, but her body was not found at the time. However, an aerial survey revealed areas of ground disturbance, prompting investigators to return and dig in those locations. On November 28th, they discovered Tindall’s remains inside a long wooden box wrapped in a tarp. Investigators discovered that Scott had purchased lumber matching the box from Home Depot on the day after Tindall’s disappearance.

Tindall’s family and Scott’s family were close, often socializing together. Following her disappearance, Scott and his wife visited Tindall’s family multiple times, suggesting that she had run away and would eventually return. However, Tindall’s family never believed this explanation, as she had not contacted them or posted on social media. They suspected that something was seriously wrong.
