Two Persons, Namita Patel and Lalit Dehury, Killed in Mud Wall Collapse in Sambalpur

Accident – Death – Obituary News : SAMBALPUR: Tragedy struck in Bijadihi, within the Kuchinda police limits, when a mud wall collapsed, claiming the lives of two individuals, including a woman. The victims have been identified as 45-year-old Namita Patel, a resident of Bijadihi, and 60-year-old Lalit Dehury, from Kindra village in the Kuchinda sub-division.

According to the police, Namita had hired Lalit, a labourer, to demolish a wall in her house. As the work commenced, Lalit initiated the process of dismantling the wall, while Namita stood nearby to inspect the progress. Suddenly, without warning, the wall collapsed, trapping both individuals under the debris.

The loud crash immediately alerted Namita’s family members, who rushed to the scene. They quickly sprang into action, managing to rescue the trapped duo from the wreckage. In a critical condition, Namita and Lalit were promptly transported to the Kuchinda sub-divisional hospital. Unfortunately, despite the medical team’s efforts, both victims succumbed to their injuries while undergoing treatment.

Authorities have registered two cases of unnatural death in relation to this tragic incident. Following the completion of the necessary autopsies, the bodies of the deceased have been handed over to their respective families.
