Early on Thursday morning, precisely at 7:40 AM, an appalling and devastating attack unfolded near the main entrance to Jerusalem. Two Palestinian militants, armed and dangerous, emerged from an inconspicuous vehicle and callously opened fire on unsuspecting civilians waiting at a bus stop. The resulting onslaught claimed the lives of three innocent Israelis and left six others injured, two of whom are currently fighting for their lives in critical condition. The perpetrators behind this heinous act have been identified as the Namra brothers, Murad and Ibrahim, who were affiliated with the notorious Palestinian militant group, Hamas.

The Attack and its Aftermath

The Namra brothers, residents of the Sur Baher district in East Jerusalem, were not new to the world of terrorism. Both had previously served sentences for their involvement in various terrorist activities. However, their deadly spree was abruptly halted when alert off-duty soldiers and a brave armed civilian intervened, courageously eliminating both attackers at the scene. Upon inspection of their vehicle, a chilling discovery was made – an extensive cache of ammunition, indicating the possibility of further intended violence and bloodshed.

The Victims

The deceased victims have been identified as Livia Dickman, aged 24, Rabbi Judge Elimelich Wasserman, aged 73, and Hanna Ifergan, aged 60. The sudden and tragic loss of these innocent lives has sent shockwaves through the community, leaving families and friends engulfed in deep mourning and sorrow.

The Ceasefire and its Implications

This ruthless attack has taken place against the disheartening backdrop of a fragile six-day ceasefire between Israel and Hamas in the Gaza Strip. Prior to the attack, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had warned of a potential resumption of hostilities against Hamas once the ceasefire ended. However, both parties agreed to a two-day extension of the ceasefire on November 27, facilitated by Qatar and Egypt in an attempt to maintain peace and de-escalate tensions.

A Tragic Misidentification

In a tragic turn of events, an Israeli civilian, identified as Yuval Doron Castleman, was tragically mistaken for a third assailant and fatally wounded by an Israeli soldier. Castleman, who had displayed immense bravery by engaging the Hamas gunmen, was tragically shot dead, leaving his grieving family seeking answers and justice.
