Tragic Road Accident Claims Lives of Three Traditional Rulers in Oyo State

In a devastating incident that has plunged Oyo State into mourning, three revered traditional rulers from Oriire Local Government Area have tragically lost their lives in a fatal road accident. The incident occurred on Friday night as they were en route to a social event in a nearby community.

The deceased monarchs have been identified as the OLODOGBO of Odogbo, the Onibowula of Bowula, and the Alayetoro of Ayetoro. Their vehicle collided head-on with a commercial Scania Truck along the Ogbomoso-Oyo Expressway, leading to this heartbreaking tragedy.

The Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) in Oyo State, Joshua Adekanye, confirmed that the accident took place at Aje Iye in Oriire Local Government Area.

The collision involved a Benz E230 with the registration number OLODOGBO and a commercial Scania Truck bearing the registration number 301 XF.

Tragically, two of the monarchs succumbed to their injuries at the scene of the accident, while the third monarch passed away a few hours later at the Ladoke Akintola University Teaching Hospital (LAUTECH), where he was rushed for medical treatment. Additionally, six other passengers were also involved in the crash, with three surviving and currently receiving medical care at LAUTECH Teaching Hospital.

“It was a head-on collision involving a private and commercial vehicle along Ogbomoso-Oyo expressway,” confirmed FRSC Sector Commander Adekanye. He further stated that the bodies of the deceased monarchs have been taken to the morgue at LAUTECH Teaching Hospital.
