Accident – Death – Obituary News : Officials in Los Angeles are currently on the hunt for a serial killer who has allegedly gunned down three homeless men while they were sleeping. In a press conference held on Friday, authorities appealed to the public for assistance in capturing the individual responsible for these heinous crimes. LAPD Chief Michel Moore revealed that the murders took place within a four-day span.

The first victim, identified as 37-year-old Jose Bolanos, was shot at approximately 3:10 am on November 26th in the Westmont neighborhood while he was asleep on a couch in a rear alley. The second victim, Mark Diggs, 62, was killed the following day at around 4:55 am in downtown Los Angeles while he leaned against a wall waiting for his phone to charge. The third killing occurred on Wednesday around 2:30 am in Lincoln Heights, where an unidentified 52-year-old Hispanic man was shot while sleeping on a sidewalk.

Chief Moore emphasized that there were distinct similarities in the way these crimes were carried out, indicating a potential link between them. All three murders occurred before 5 am, and the victims were found sleeping on a sidewalk or in an alleyway at the time of the fatal shootings. The perpetrator appears to be targeting individuals who are alone, rather than homeless encampments.

To aid in the investigation, the police released screengrabs from surveillance footage showing the alleged serial killer and their vehicle. The suspect can be seen wearing a light-colored hoodie and dark pants. However, Chief Moore refrained from providing specific details about the vehicle’s make and model. He also mentioned that additional video footage leading up to the third homicide would not be released at this time.

In response to these tragic events, the city has established temporary winter shelters for the homeless population, and increased patrols in open areas where they typically sleep. Mayor Karen Bass urged the public to spread awareness about the ongoing investigation and encouraged the unhoused community to seek shelter and support.

Chief Moore assured the public that the investigation is being taken seriously, with homicide detectives from various posts collaborating on the case. A forensic team is also readily available to process evidence promptly. While the LAPD is in contact with law enforcement departments in Glendale, Pasadena, and Longbeach, Chief Moore stated that the killer has not targeted beyond Los Angeles city limits thus far. Regular updates about the progress of the investigation have been shared with over 40 agencies.
