The victim, identified as 40-year-old Zenny Dondoyano Bazarte, was a native of Cansabusab, Poro town, Camotes Island. She was temporarily residing in Don Gil Garcia Street, Barangay Capitol Site in Cebu City. Tragically, she was fatally stabbed by a former coworker, 25-year-old Kino Bacarro Aying, who worked as a delivery rider and hailed from Barangay Talima, Olango Island, Lapu-Lapu City.

After being stabbed multiple times, Bazarte was rushed to the nearest hospital where she succumbed to her injuries. Following the attack, Aying managed to flee the scene. However, thanks to the swift response and diligent efforts of the Abellana Police Station, the suspect was apprehended in Sitio Sadpa, Barangay Sambag 2 in Cebu City.

Police Captain Mark Don Alfred Leanza, the chief of the Abellana Police Station, revealed that as soon as they received a distress call from the victim’s colleagues at Alberto’s Pizza, they initiated a hot pursuit operation to track down the assailant. Fortunately, the witnesses provided a detailed description of the suspect, highlighting his distinctive features such as a long chin and large eyes, which facilitated his identification and subsequent capture.

The money was intended to be distributed among the group members before December 24, enabling them to utilize it for their Christmas celebration.
