The incident occurred on November 29, claiming the life of the fourth-year outside hitter from Guelph, Ontario. Two of McInnis’s teammates were also involved in the crash and are currently in critical condition at Royal Inland Hospital.

In her emotional message, she expressed her grief, stating, “I’m numb that Sunday was the last day I’ll ever see my son again.” Walter also revealed that a criminal investigation is underway regarding the crash.

Generous donations from two contributors have already amounted to $20,000 for the award.

Expressing their gratitude for the support they have received during this difficult time, the team released a statement saying, “Thank you to everyone who has reached out over the past few days. At a time of heartache, your love and support has been felt.”

The crash, which involved six vehicles, took place around 3 p.m. on November 29, causing injuries to a total of 11 individuals. Seven of them were transported to the hospital for treatment. The incident has raised concerns, leading to a criminal investigation to determine the cause of the accident.
