Los Angeles Man Arrested as Suspect in Recent Killings of Homeless Men

The first victim, Jose Bolanos, aged 37, was found dead with a gunshot wound in an alley in South Los Angeles around 3 a.m. on November 26th. The following day, Mark Diggs, aged 62, was shot and killed around 5 a.m. while pushing a shopping cart near downtown Los Angeles. The third shooting took place on November 29th at approximately 2:30 a.m. in the Lincoln Heights area, where the body of a 52-year-old man was discovered. The police have refrained from immediately revealing the victim’s identity, pending notification of his family.

Detectives managed to identify Powell’s vehicle through surveillance footage, which led them to track him to the city of Beverly Hills. A subsequent police stop resulted in the discovery of a firearm inside Powell’s vehicle. Speaking to reporters, Chief Moore expressed his gratitude that the suspect is now in custody, assuring the community that he is no longer a threat.

As of now, it is unclear whether Powell has legal representation. He is scheduled to appear in court on Monday. Online jail records indicate that Powell was arrested on Thursday and is currently being held on $2 million bail.
