In a bombshell lawsuit filed against Hollywood actor Jamie Foxx, an anonymous woman, identified as Jane Doe, has recently requested anonymity throughout the legal process. According to court documents, Jane Doe states, “I was subjected to sexual assault, as indicated in the Complaint, which resulted in significant psychological and emotional injuries.” She further elaborates on her decision to remain anonymous, expressing concern over the sensitive nature of the case and the potential negative impact on her mental well-being. She states, “I do not wish to publicly disclose my identity as a victim of sexual assault due to the prominent and celebrity status of the Defendants, as it has already caused me immense shock, shame, and embarrassment.”

Fear for Safety and Media Coverage

Jane Doe’s request for anonymity arose from her fear for personal safety, primarily due to the widespread media coverage surrounding the high-profile case. The alleged incident took place in August 2015 at Catch NYC, a popular New York bar. Doe alleges that Foxx groped her breasts in a private area of the venue before proceeding to touch her intimate areas.

As the news broke, the case gained significant attention from “every major news outlet,” further intensifying the concerns for Jane Doe’s safety. The fear stems from the defendant’s fame and influence, which potentially exposes the accuser to various forms of retribution.

The Expired New York Adult Survivors Act

The lawsuit was filed under the now-expired New York Adult Survivors Act, which received over 3000 civil suits, including allegations against other prominent figures such as Diddy, Russell Brand, and Interscope co-founder Jimmy Iovine.

Jane Doe emphasized the difficulty she faced in coming forward and discussing the events that transpired. She states, “The sexual assault I endured has led to depression, anxiety, sleeplessness, and distress. I fear that public disclosure will only exacerbate my emotional trauma.”
