Nebraska State Patrol Investigates Fatal Stabbing in Aurora

One Dead and Two Injured in Tragic Incident

AURORA, Lincoln, Neb. – The Nebraska State Patrol (NSP) is currently conducting an investigation into a devastating homicide that occurred on Saturday morning in Aurora. The incident resulted in the death of one person, while two others sustained serious injuries.

At approximately 1:20 a.m., the Aurora Police Department received a distressing report of a stabbing at a residential property located in the 100 block of Fairview Drive. Promptly responding to the call, officers discovered an adult woman with significant injuries in the driveway of a nearby house. While making their way to the residence mentioned in the 911 call, authorities encountered an individual holding a knife. Thankfully, this individual complied with the officers’ commands and was subsequently taken into custody.

A thorough search of the residence uncovered two additional victims inside. All three victims, suffering from stab wounds, were immediately transported to the hospital for urgent medical attention. Regrettably, 48-year-old Ross Nickolaus, one of the victims, was pronounced dead at the hospital. The injured woman, whose injuries were severe, was swiftly transferred to Bergan Mercy Hospital in Omaha. The third victim, a juvenile, received treatment for minor injuries before being released. Our thoughts go out to the victims and their families during this difficult time.

The suspect, identified as 29-year-old Caleb Arnett, was also taken to the hospital for minor injuries sustained prior to the arrival of law enforcement officials. Subsequently, he was arrested and confined in the Hamilton County Jail. Recognizing the gravity of the situation, the Aurora Police Department has requested the assistance of the Nebraska State Patrol to lead the ongoing homicide investigation.

Caleb Arnett now faces charges of first-degree murder and two counts of first-degree assault. As the investigation continues, law enforcement authorities are leaving no stone unturned to ensure justice is served. The motive behind the attack remains unknown at this time.
