Dhar (Madhya Pradesh): In a devastating incident that has left the community in shock, a father and son lost their lives while four others sustained injuries when a pick-up van plunged into the Omkareshwar canal near Semalda on the Kalibawdi road. The incident occurred under the jurisdiction of the Dhamnod police station in the Dhar district.

The deceased have been identified as Vijay Kushwaha, a hardworking daily wage worker at the Life Insurance Corporation of India, and his young son Rudraksh, aged 7, who resided in Semalda. According to reports, Vijay was transporting a group of laborers to the nearby fields when tragedy struck. Local residents who were alerted about the accident rushed to the scene and immediately started rescue operations. The injured individuals were quickly extricated from the submerged van and promptly taken to a nearby hospital for urgent medical attention.

Among the injured are Yash Kushwaha (19), Jyoti Ashok (30), Gayatri Kushwaha (30), and Kalibai Jeevan (50). These individuals are currently receiving treatment at the Community Health Centre. The vehicle involved in the accident was carrying a total of seven laborers at the time of the incident. The victim, identified as Rajkumar Rathod, was on his way to Baledi village to set up a stall at the weekly market known as “haat.” Accompanying him was his associate, Jitendra.

As the pair traveled along their designated route, the criminals on motorcycles intercepted them near Mavdi Pada Phata, a few kilometers away from Baledi village. Reports suggest that the miscreants deliberately collided with their bikes, causing Rathod and Jitendra to crash. Taking advantage of the chaos, the assailants brandished knives and sharp-pointed weapons, forcibly snatching a bag containing a staggering amount of Rs 4 lakh before making a swift escape from the scene.

Both Rathod and Jitendra sustained injuries during the scuffle and were promptly rushed to the government hospital in Amjhera town for medical treatment. The Amjhera police station has registered a case regarding the incident and initiated a thorough investigation.
