According to sources, the tragedy unfolded after Radha Santa, in a drunken state, engaged in a heated argument with his wife, Malati, over a trivial matter. Enraged, Radha grabbed a knife and attempted to attack his wife, who managed to escape in fear for her life.

Mad with anger, Radha then turned his aggression towards his defenseless toddler son, mercilessly stabbing him with the knife. Janai Santa, who happened to be passing by, witnessed this ghastly act and tried to intervene to save the child. Tragically, she too fell victim to Radha’s violent outburst and was fatally stabbed. Both Bibe Santa and Janai Santa lost their lives on the spot, leaving the entire community in shock and mourning.

News of the incident quickly spread throughout the village, prompting some villagers to rush to the scene. Outraged by the horrific act, they apprehended Radha Santa and subjected him to a severe beating before restraining him with a rope. The assault left Radha with injuries to his head and limbs.

Upon receiving information about the incident, the police promptly arrived at the village and managed to rescue Radha from the enraged villagers. He was immediately taken to the Papdahandi Community Health Centre for medical treatment and later transferred to the district headquarters hospital in Nabarangpur. However, due to his deteriorating condition, he had to be further shifted to Saheed Laxman Naik Medical College and Hospital in Koraput.
