Accident – Death – Obituary News : Suspect Charged in Deadly South Kansas City Shooting

Kansas City, Mo. – Gregory J. Foster has been charged with second-degree murder and armed criminal action in connection to Thursday afternoon’s deadly shooting in south Kansas City. The incident occurred near E. 117th Street and Troost Avenue, south of Minor Park.

According to court documents, Kansas City police officers responded to a call reporting a shooting just after 3 p.m. on November 30th. The caller stated that he had shot someone in his basement and left the back door open for officers.

Upon arrival, officers entered the home and discovered the deceased victim, identified as 50-year-old John Buckley. Buckley was found covered with a towel, and spent shell castings were found nearby.

During questioning, Foster informed detectives that he found a note from Buckley, who shared the residence with him, stating that he had three days to move out. This discovery apparently triggered Foster’s violent response.

Court documents reveal that Foster retrieved his Glock 17 handgun and descended to the basement, where Buckley usually stayed. Upon entering the basement, Foster spotted Buckley sitting on the couch, watching television. Without hesitation, Foster approached Buckley and fired multiple shots into his chest until he collapsed.

After committing the crime, Foster went back upstairs, obtained a blanket from the closet, and returned to cover the victim.
