San Leandro barber Johnathan Jabari Clay fatally shot during robbery, second suspect charged

Accident – Death – Obituary News : SAN LEANDRO — Another arrest has been made in connection with the robbery and fatal shooting of a barber in San Leandro, as East Bay prosecutors charged a second suspect on Wednesday. Guillermo Camacho, a 26-year-old resident of Oakland, was apprehended in Oakland on Monday by the San Leandro Police Department. The authorities discovered a stolen vehicle during the arrest, and inside the car, they found a loaded 9mm handgun with an extended magazine.

The Alameda County District Attorney’s Office has charged Camacho with several crimes, including robbery, murder, assault with a firearm, auto theft, and weapons violations. The charges are in relation to the incident that took place on October 25 at the Harrison Brothers barbershop on East 14th St. According to the police, two suspects entered the establishment and threatened the barber, identified as 47-year-old Johnathan Jabari Clay, with firearms in an attempt to commit a robbery. During the altercation, Clay was pistol-whipped, robbed of his personal belongings, and tragically killed. Additionally, a customer present at the time was injured.

Investigations revealed that Clay, in an act of self-defense, drew his own firearm and fired at the suspects. The suspects retaliated by shooting back at him. The police have identified one of the suspects as Alexis Garcia, a 26-year-old resident of Oakland, who was arrested two days following the incident. Garcia has been charged with murder, second-degree robbery, three counts of assault with a firearm, and one count of illegal gun possession.

The San Leandro Police Department’s detectives subsequently identified Guillermo Camacho as the second suspect involved in the case. With Camacho now in custody, the authorities hope to gain further insights into the events surrounding the tragic incident.
