Calgary police have launched an investigation following the tragic death of a man in a drive-by shooting that occurred on Thursday night in the Beltline area.

Incident Report

At approximately 9 p.m. on Thursday, November 30, law enforcement authorities responded promptly to multiple reports of gunshots fired along 10 Avenue SW.

Upon arrival at the scene, officers discovered the lifeless body of a man who had suffered fatal gunshot wounds.

CCTV Footage Reveals Disturbing Details

Reviewing the closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage retrieved from the vicinity, it was confirmed that the victim was walking westbound on 10 Avenue SW towards 6 Street SW when an unidentified assailant driving a dark-coloured SUV pulled up alongside him.

Without warning, the perpetrator unleashed a barrage of bullets before swiftly fleeing the scene. The vehicle was last witnessed heading south on 6 Street SE, turning west onto 13 Avenue SW.

Victim’s Identity and Background

Following an autopsy conducted on Friday, authorities have identified the deceased as a 40-year-old man who was not a Calgary resident.

Investigators have determined that the victim has connections to Vancouver, Edmonton, and Halifax, though his name will only be disclosed once his family has been notified accordingly.

Possible Motive Under Scrutiny

As of now, the police have not released any information pertaining to whether the shooting was a targeted attack or a random act of violence.
