Hollis Woman Apprehended by Police for Driving Wrong Way in Monument Square

HOLLIS — A local woman was taken into custody on Tuesday evening after officers from the Hollis Police Department observed her driving in the wrong direction in Monument Square. The incident occurred at approximately 5:40 p.m. on November 29.

A vigilant Hollis police officer stationed at Monument Square witnessed a vehicle entering the area on the incorrect side of the road. Recognizing the potential danger posed by the driver’s actions, the officer quickly initiated pursuit of the vehicle.

The vehicle continued for approximately a quarter of a mile before finally coming to a stop near Nichols Field. The driver, identified as 43-year-old Anastasiya Alekseyeva, a resident of Hollis, displayed several signs of impairment, including the strong smell of alcohol emanating from the vehicle.

Despite the officer’s attempts to establish cooperation, Alekseyeva became uncooperative and failed to comply with the officer’s instructions, leading to her arrest. The Hollis Police Department took Alekseyeva into custody to ensure the safety of herself and others on the road.

Following her arrest, Alekseyeva was brought to the Hollis Police Department for further processing. Later, she was released on personal recognizance bail, pending her upcoming arraignment at the 9th Circuit Court, Nashua District. Alekseyeva now faces charges for driving under the influence (DUI) and violating open container laws.

This unfortunate incident marks the 47th DUI-related arrest made by the Hollis Police Department this year, highlighting the ongoing efforts of law enforcement to ensure the safety and well-being of the community.
