SRINAGAR – In a successful operation, the Indian Army neutralized a Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorist in an encounter that took place in the Pulwama district of Jammu and Kashmir. The encounter, which occurred on Thursday, saw security forces acting on specific intelligence regarding the presence of the terrorist in Arihal village.

After receiving the intelligence, security forces swiftly launched a cordon and search operation in the area. The operation was aimed at capturing the terrorist and restoring peace in the region. The police spokesman reported that during the search operation, the terrorist opened fire indiscriminately at the security forces. In response, the security forces promptly retaliated, leading to an intense exchange of fire and subsequent encounter.

The terrorist, identified as Kifayat Ayoub Alie, hailed from Pinjoora Shopian and was associated with the banned terror outfit LeT. The Indian Army successfully neutralized the terrorist and subsequently retrieved his body from the encounter site, ensuring the elimination of a major threat to the region’s security.

The police records reveal that the deceased terrorist was involved in numerous terror-related crimes, highlighting the significance of his elimination in bolstering the security situation in the region. This successful operation serves as a testament to the Indian Army’s unwavering commitment to safeguarding the lives and well-being of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.

The seized items included a pistol, two magazines, five rounds, and two grenades.
