Accident – Death – Obituary News : Body of Missing Canton-Area Woman Identified in Tuscarawas County

Investigators have finally identified the body that was discovered by a passerby in northern Tuscarawas County almost a month ago. The body has been confirmed to be that of Katie Ann Fuller, a 27-year-old woman from the Canton area who was reported missing in September, according to the Tuscarawas County Sheriff’s Office.

The confirmation of Fuller’s identity came after DNA test results from the Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner’s Office matched the body to her. Authorities did not find any signs of trauma on the body, and further forensic testing and toxicology results are awaited to determine the cause of her death.

Fuller’s family had reported her missing to the Canton police on September 12. Her mother stated that she last received a text message from her daughter on September 7. At the time of her disappearance, Fuller was known to frequent a motel in Jackson Township and lived with a man on McKinley Avenue SW. The man informed the police that Fuller did not drive to a grocery store as planned on September 9.

The Tuscarawas County Sheriff’s Office stated, “Her family describes that she was known to struggle with substance abuse. Our thoughts go out to Katie’s family, who have been notified and are very helpful and cooperative.”

The body was discovered on November 4 by a passerby on North Orchard Road near Dover-Zoar Road in Sandy Township, around four miles east of Bolivar. The body was found partially decomposed and had turned into a partial skeleton. It was lying over an embankment off the side of the road.

The deceased woman was found wearing sweatpants, black shoes, and a light-colored shirt. The Sheriff’s Office is collaborating with law enforcement in Stark County to determine the cause of Fuller’s death.

In a related Facebook post by the Tuscarawas County Sheriff’s Office, it was mentioned that anyone with information related to Fuller’s death should contact Capt. Adam Fisher of the detective bureau at 330-339-2000.

This tragic case continues to unfold, and investigators are determined to find answers regarding the circumstances surrounding Katie Ann Fuller’s untimely death.
