Manpreet Singh Dhaliwal Arrested for Threatening Religious Leaders in Pathankot

Pathankot: In a recent development, Manpreet Singh Dhaliwal, a resident of Ludhiana, has been apprehended by the Pathankot Police for allegedly making death threats against religious leaders. The arrest took place on Friday, and the investigation into the case is currently underway.

Threatening Phone Call and Social Media Harassment

The police stated that Dhaliwal had made a threatening phone call to a religious leader in Pathankot. Furthermore, he used a fake identity on Facebook to intimidate individuals. Notably, Dhaliwal has a history of criminal activities, including cases related to robbery and anti-national acts between 2008 and 2016. An FIR has been registered against him, and he has been formally taken into custody.

Connection with Canada and Seizure of Suspicious Funds

Dhaliwal’s family resides in Canada, and he had previously been living there as well. However, in 2016, he returned to India. During the arrest, the police discovered Rs 23.50 lakh in the possession of the accused. The source of this substantial amount of money is currently under investigation.

Links to Khalistani Separatist and Investigation Progress

Authorities have uncovered Dhaliwal’s association with Hardeep Singh Nijjar, a Khalistani separatist who was killed in Canada. The police were able to trace the threatening calls made by Dhaliwal, leading to his arrest. Ongoing investigations aim to determine the origins of the seized funds and whether Dhaliwal had any associates or political support.
