Tragic Incident: 21-Year-Old Medical Student Dies of Snakebite After Convocation Ceremony in Bengaluru

A 21-year-old medical student’s joyous celebration of earning an MBBS degree turned into a heart-wrenching tragedy as he succumbed to a venomous snakebite just a few hours after his convocation ceremony. The shocking incident took place on the outskirts of Tumakuru, approximately 80km from Bengaluru, at the Sri Siddhartha Medical College (SSMC) campus.

The young victim, identified as Adit Balakrishnan from Thrissur, Kerala, was a dedicated student of Sri Siddhartha Academy of Higher Education. According to the police, the fateful snakebite occurred around 11 pm while Adit was returning from the convocation ceremony. Unaware of the venomous attack, Adit, accompanied by his mother and relatives, reached his residence. However, upon arrival, he suddenly collapsed, prompting his immediate rush to a nearby hospital. Tragically, he was declared dead upon arrival, as reported by the Times of India.

An autopsy report later confirmed the presence of significant venom levels in Adit’s blood samples, validating the snakebite as the cause of his untimely demise. Despite the grandeur of the convocation ceremony, graced by esteemed dignitaries including Congress parliamentarian Shashi Tharoor and SAHE chancellor and home minister G Parameshwara, Adit’s promising life was abruptly cut short by this unfortunate event.

Heartfelt Condolences and Memories

Expressing profound grief and condolences, Dr. Prabhakara GN, the vice-principal of SSMC, remembered Adit as an exceptional student, emphasizing the shocking nature of his tragic death. The entire medical community mourns the loss of such a promising young individual who had dedicated his life to the pursuit of medical knowledge and service.

Awaiting the Arrival of Adit’s Father for the Final Rites

Adit’s mother and other grieving relatives had traveled from Thrissur to be part of his momentous convocation ceremony, completely unaware of the tragic events that would unfold. Now, they await the arrival of Adit’s father, who is expected to travel from Italy to perform the final rites and bid a final farewell to his beloved son.
