Teen Fatally Shot in Bessemer Identified as Nicholas Mitchell Norman

Bessemer, Alabama – Tragic Shooting Incident Claims the Life of 19-Year-Old

The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office has identified the teenager who lost his life in a shooting incident in Bessemer on Tuesday. The victim, 19-year-old Nicholas Mitchell Norman, was a resident of Bessemer.

According to Detective Justin Burmeister from the Bessemer Police Department (BPD), the authorities received an emergency call reporting gunshots in the 1300 block of Hearn Avenue at approximately 1:44 p.m. on Tuesday.

Upon arriving at the scene, law enforcement officers discovered the lifeless body of Nicholas Mitchell Norman, who had sustained fatal gunshot wounds. Tragically, he was pronounced dead at 2:22 p.m. Medical personnel also attended to another adult male who had been stabbed during the incident. The injured individual was swiftly transported to a nearby hospital for urgent medical care, as confirmed by Detective Burmeister.

Preliminary investigations conducted by the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office and the BPD suggest that the altercation between the two men escalated into a physical fight, resulting in the stabbing and subsequent gunfire. The authorities have revealed that the fatal shooting occurred during a reported home invasion.

The Bessemer Police Department is treating this tragic incident as a homicide and is actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of Nicholas Mitchell Norman.
