Suspects Indicted in Connection with 4-Year-Old’s Fentanyl Overdose Death

Three Individuals Face Multiple Charges in Tragic Case

The Lexington Police Department has announced that three suspects have been indicted in connection with the tragic death of a 4-year-old child due to a fentanyl overdose. Anderson George, aged 32, Briana Turpin, aged 26, and Raven Houston, aged 18, have all been indicted on charges of second-degree manslaughter, trafficking fentanyl, and two counts of first-degree wanton endangerment, as revealed in court documents. Additionally, George and Turpin face an additional charge of tampering with physical evidence.

According to the indictment, George, Turpin, and Houston are accused of causing the death of B.H. through the unlawful distribution of a schedule I or II controlled substance for remuneration, with fentanyl being identified as the proximate cause of the child’s tragic demise.

The Lexington Police Department shared that the child passed away on February 26 at a local hospital. During their investigation, detectives identified George, Turpin, and Houston as suspects and discovered evidence of drug trafficking at a residence located on Bracktown Road.

All three suspects were apprehended on Tuesday, as confirmed by the police. George’s arrest citation states that he was pulled over for a routine traffic stop on I-75 early Tuesday morning at the request of a detective.

According to court documents, detectives decided to search George’s vehicle due to the distinct smell of marijuana emanating from it. The search led to the discovery of approximately 100 grams of suspected fentanyl in the air filter box of the engine compartment, alongside roughly 500 grams of cutting agents known to be paraphernalia.

In addition to the charges related to the child’s death, George, originally from Detroit, was also charged with trafficking fentanyl, buying or possessing drug paraphernalia, and importing fentanyl as a result of the traffic stop. He is currently being held at the Fayette County Detention Center, with a bond set at $25,000 for the fentanyl trafficking charge and $17,500 for the manslaughter charge, according to jail records.

Turpin and Houston were arrested in Boyle County on Tuesday and are now awaiting extradition to Fayette County, as confirmed by the Lexington police.

Arraignment for George, Turpin, and Houston is scheduled to take place in Fayette Circuit Court on December 15, according to court records.
