Kanpur police announced on Wednesday that they have successfully solved the murder case of a 40-year-old school teacher. The authorities have arrested the victim’s wife, her alleged lover, and their aide in connection with the crime.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Urmila Kumari (32), the wife of the deceased, Shailendra Sonkar (34), who is believed to be her paramour, and Vikas Sonkar (34), their accomplice. Urmila Kumari is accused of plotting her husband’s murder in collaboration with Shailendra, and Vikas played a role in executing the crime.

The victim, Rajesh Gautam, was a primary school teacher from Daheli Sujanpur. He met with a fatal accident in Swarn Jayanti Vihar of Koyla Nagar on November 4. Initially, it was believed to be a tragic road accident. However, during the course of the police investigation, it was discovered that Rajesh had actually been murdered as part of a conspiracy.

According to the police, Urmila Kumari had been having an extramarital affair with Shailendra, which led to the plan to eliminate Rajesh. On the morning of November 4, when Rajesh went out for his regular walk, Urmila alerted Shailendra, who then informed Vikas. Vikas arrived at the scene in an Eco sport car and deliberately hit Rajesh from behind, causing his death. As they attempted to flee the scene, their car collided with a tree and became stuck. Another accomplice, Sumit, arrived in a separate car and helped Vikas escape.

Following the accident, Rajesh’s wife filed a police complaint. Subsequently, the Sen Paschim Para police converted the case from an accident to a murder investigation. Four teams were assigned to the case, and with the help of surveillance and information systems, crucial leads were obtained.

ACP Ghatampur Dinesh Kumar Shukla revealed that Urmila had hired Vikas and Sumit for Rs 4 lakh to carry out the murder. Urmila informed Shailendra about Rajesh’s morning walk routine, and Shailendra then coordinated with Vikas to execute the plan. The police successfully apprehended Urmila, Shailendra, and Vikas based on the information obtained. Efforts are currently underway to arrest Sumit, the fourth accomplice.

In recent news, a car accident in Kanpur Dehat resulted in the death of four individuals, including a brother-sister duo, and left five others injured. The victims were traveling from Auraiya district to Gajner’s Bhaithana village when their car crashed into a roadside tree. The driver of the car is believed to have fallen asleep, causing the accident.

In another incident in Kolkata, the driver and passenger of a Mercedes involved in a fatal accident had attended a party before borrowing the car. The police are investigating the possibility of drug consumption by the individuals. The car’s owner has been summoned to provide further clarification. The police have charged the accused with reckless driving and fleeing the scene.

Additionally, a consumer forum ruled that an insurance company must honor a vehicle claim even if the ownership of the car has not been transferred to the driver involved in an accident. The ruling came in response to a claim for a fatal road accident involving a car that had been sold but not yet transferred to the buyer. The insurance company initially rejected the claim, arguing that the claimant was not the owner of the car at the time of the accident. However, the consumer forum ruled in favor of the claimant, affirming that the ownership status of the car does not affect the claim.
