According to Sergeant Drew Fennelly of the Lawrence Police Department, the deceased has been identified as 23-year-old Josiah Emmanuel Henderson, a resident of Lawrence. The police were attempting to execute a warrant for Henderson’s arrest on charges that had not yet been proven in court. These charges include rape, aggravated criminal sodomy, aggravated indecent liberties, aggravated domestic battery, and aggravated endangering a child.

The incident unfolded on Wednesday, November 29, when officers arrived at an apartment complex located in the 1700 block of Ohio Street. Upon arrival, they heard a single gunshot, prompting them to retreat from the apartment. With utmost caution, the police established a perimeter and called for additional support.
